John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Clinic Wins Precedent-Setting Case for Sisters

A landmark settlement was reached last month in a federal court that will likely be a precedent-setting ruling for caregivers of the disabled and the elderly.

The case that attorneys and students in The John Marshall Law School Fair Housing Legal Clinic brought against the Lake County Housing Authority involved the issue of live-in relative caregivers and whether their income is to be included in the calculation of the family’s income for purposes of determining eligibility for housing voucher assistance.
